The Tenement Series is an homage to our immigrant forbears. Some of the works are semi autobiographical as they include photo transfers of old family photographs. This painting attempts to portray through a pastiche of images one immigrant family's journey from their impoverished arrival to America to their achievment of middle class prosperity.
This mixed media work uses primarily grays, black,and earth tones along with photo transfers and other collaged materials creating the effect of old movie stills.
